Pediatrician Robert Núñez pointed out this Wednesday that respiratory symptoms are increasing in children and urged parents to take all precautions to avoid contagion. He stressed that hand washing, good nutrition and hydration are essential for prevention.
“It is important to prepare the boys with a good diet and good hydration. You have to take advantage of fruits and vegetables before giving them medicines. The juices have a good composition of vitamin C to develop the immunity of the children”, stated the pediatrician in an interview with Unicanal.

He recalled that the Ministry of Health launched an alert about the increase in respiratory symptoms, especially influenza and covid-19, for which he urged the general public to take the necessary precautions, such as hand washing, ventilation of closed environments and above all getting vaccinated to prevent serious cases.
Nunez indicated that When a person with a respiratory condition sneezes, the virus can remain for up to six hours in a closed environment and it remains on the hands for about an hour, with a high probability of infecting the environment. He clarified that confinement is not good for children either.

“Fever is controllable, but you have to know how to identify the symptoms of respiratory symptoms. When a child begins to have respiratory distress, it is time to consult,” added the pediatrician.
The Ministry of Health continues with the winter vaccination campaign. The quadrivalent vaccines against influenza are applied, the annual bivalent vaccine against covid-19, aimed at people aged 12 and over, and the Neumo 23 vaccine, intended for people over 60 years of age who have not received this dose in the last five years.
