COMAIP adopts an ethical charter and creates new committees

The Moroccan Confederation of Industrial Pelagic Fishing Shipowners (COMAIP) held an extraordinary general assembly in Rabat on September 6, 2024. During this meeting, the board of directors unanimously adopted an ethical charter focused on the preservation of resources, exemplary social practices, and environmental sustainability. This charter aims to align the actions of members with the High Royal Guidelines concerning the Africa-Atlantic Axis.

The board also decided to entrust an independent personality with the drafting of a report on the socio-economic impact of the sector at the regional, national and continental levels. In addition, three new committees were created: an ethics committee to supervise the implementation of the charter, a strategic committee for the scientific and environmental aspects, and an external relations committee to represent COMAIP with partners.

COMAIP President, Mr. Mohamed Lamine Hormatollah, said that COMAIP is today establishing the foundations of a new ambition in line with the vision of King Mohammed VI, with an emphasis on the Africa-Atlantic Axis. “All our members stand ready to support this royal vision on the economic, social and environmental levels,” he said.

It should be noted that COMAIP, the national confederation of pelagic fishing shipowners, campaigns for sustainable and regulated fishing. Representing 11 industrialists in Dakhla with 25 trawlers and more than 40 processing units, it supports more than 13,500 direct jobs and 38,600 indirect jobs, generating a turnover of nearly 4 billion dirhams.
