There is something to be said about our new Minister of Foreign Affairs. But let’s start with the one that immediately provokes the most resistance. Hadja Lahbib (52) was a journalist. A foreign journalist. Not one that dwelt in the ivory towers of diplomacy, but in the field. A journalist who makes it to minister? It remains to be seen whether that is a success, but to put it in the terms that are familiar to Lahbib: that is not breaking news. Look at Johan Van Overtveldt (N-VA) and Ludivine Dedonder (PS).
