The legendary Ukrainian coach Valeriy Vasilyevich is among the best mentors in the history of world football.
The popular English publication FourFourTwo has published its version of the ranking of the 100 best coaches in the world. Valery Lobanovsky, coach of Dynamo Kyiv, was put by the compilers of the list in tenth place.
These are not all the achievements of the Kiev resident. The teams he led won the title of champions 8 times and won the Cup of the former USSR six times, five times under his leadership “Dynamo” won gold in the championship of independent Ukraine and won the national Cup three times.
Valery Lobanovsky’s team won silver at the European Championship (1988), bronze at the Olympic Games (1976), and with Dynamo he twice won the Cup Winners’ Cup (1975 and 1986) and the UEFA Super Cup (1975).
Two more Dynamo coaches made it into the top 100 list. In 34th place in the ranking is Viktor Aleksandrovich Maslov, under whose leadership the Kievans won gold medals as champions of the former USSR (1966−1968) and two national Cups (1964, 1966). And Romanian Mircea Lucescu, who recently resigned from the post of head coach of the “white-blues”, occupies 87th position. With Dynamo in the 2020/2021 season, he won the championship, Cup and Super Cup of Ukraine.
