Columbia University Gives Ultimatum to Anti-Palestinian Activists on Campus: Leave by 2:00 pm or Face Consequences

Columbia University issued a warning to anti-Palestinian activists who have set up camp on campus giving them until 2:00 pm to leave.

Student activists were given the ultimatum when NYPD buses were seen arriving outside the Morningside Heights campus on Monday morning. The university identified many students at the camp and warned them not to leave the camp before the stop date.

Likewise, the university announced that students who voluntarily leave before the deadline and identify themselves to a university official will be eligible to complete the semester. They must sign a form to agree to abide by the university’s policies until June 30, 2025, or the date of their degree award.

The decision was made after Columbia University President Minouche Shafik admitted that all other negotiations with protesters had failed.

Shafik previously called on protesters to “disperse voluntarily” and dismantle the camp that has been plaguing the campus for more than a week.. However, the university is looking at “other internal options to end this crisis as quickly as possible.” “

Shafik admitted that the camp made Jewish students uncomfortable and caused many to flee the campus. He also specified that academic leaders had been trying to communicate with the protesters since last Wednesday, but they could not reach an agreement.

The administration is consulting with a broader group of the university community to explore other internal options to end the crisis following the protests.. Shafik expressed his wish that the protesters had reached a different result.

The warning comes as university heads across the country decide to crack down and use law enforcement to remove protesters. Over the weekend alone, more than 200 protesters were arrested at campuses including Northeastern University, Arizona State University, Indiana University, and Washington University.
