Colruyt itself says that its “non-food web store” Collishop is one of the largest Belgian web shops, but that it is closing the web store anyway because in the current competitive landscape “specialization is required in online non-food sales”.
Dieter Struyve of Colruyt: “We have a number of categories that we managed in the past, but now we make very conscious choices about them.” In the segment of online sales of non-food products, Collishop had a strong competitor to the Dutch mastodon bol.com, part of Ahold Delhaize.
This decision has no consequences for the online activities of Dreamland, Dreambaby, MyUnderwear24 and Fiets !. On the contrary, Colruyt claims to continue to invest in this. The range for cooking and dining will largely remain for sale in the Colruyt stores.
The closure of Collishop has no impact on employment, Colruyt reports. All 150 employees will continue to work within the Colruyt Group. And the Collishop collection points in the stores will also continue to exist. Products from Dreamland and Dreambaby will still be able to be picked up there.
