“Colorful spectacle, moral chest, catching flies!” – The Daily Standard

Last night, FVD MP Theo Hiddema gave his vision of the four CDA candidate candidates. He calls it a “colorful spectacle” of politicians who are now “catching flies” on one point: whether or not to cooperate with the Forum for Democracy. Hiddema is amused with it.

Were at RTL talk show last night Beau FVD MPs Theo Hiddema and Thierry Baudet guest. When the political current affairs are discussed, Hiddema has something to say about the company that is currently competing for the CDA party leader. Hiddema looks with frowned eyebrows at how Mona Keijzer, Pieter Omtzigt, Hugo de Jonge and Martijn van Helvert “catch flies” on mainly one theme: whether or not the party will cooperate with the Forum for Democracy after the parliamentary elections.

It is really a “colorful spectacle”, says the eminence grise of the still young party. But he does have a caveat to the CDA ruffs: if they continue to measure each other on just one point – a hypothetical partnership with FVD – then little will likely remain from the party at the polls in March. And then it is not up to CDA leaders to determine whether or not they will join forces with Baudet and Hiddema’s party, but the latter are in control.

Hiddema: “And then we say: we don’t like that to work with you. I do not feel like it.” Clearly: “You have to take this seriously.”
