East San Jose has been characterized by the Latin flavor that many restaurants offer to the community, however, the artisan shops make the residents who visit them feel at home.
Artesanías Tapatitas is a business that has been offering Mexican culture to its customers for 10 years, through its products it has touched the hearts of the residents of eastern San José.
“There are people who have arrived and just by looking at the huarache they have cried because they remember that they did it in their land manually and by hand, he says I remember that we made and sold them,” said Alejandro García, owner of the establishment.
The store sells spinning top, artisan pieces, shoes, toys and traditional dresses.
Most of these products are made by hand and brought directly from different states of Mexico.
Betty Ortega, an employee of the place, said that on one occasion a client began to cry while he was inside the establishment.
“When he looked up he started to cry, and later he explained that he felt that because his mother embroidered these dresses then because he had lost her, his mother died, the moment he saw the dress he felt connected, it is a connection with our land” Ortega asserted.
