On Saturday night, a 67-year-old woman walked out of her home in Silver Cliff, Colorado.
She didn’t get far before she was attacked by an aggressive North American mule deer right outside the door.
According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) the small buck had antlers with two spikes.
The American woman suffered a puncture wound on her left leg, as well as heavy bruising and a wound on her right leg.

Now a hunt has been launched for the wanted scapegoat.
“Zombie deer” creates fear
– Dangerous
The woman was sent to hospital for treatment for her injuries.
– I think this is a good example of what happens when deer lose their natural fear of people, says regional manager of CPW, Mike Brown, in the press release.
Earlier that day, the 67-year-old is said to have fed birds and thrown out bread by the house, which may have led to the deer coming so close.
Feeding deer can eventually make them keep less distance from people, according to CPW.

– They become aggressive and dangerous. This is a good reminder that wild animals should always be treated as such, and that people must give wildlife the space they need, says Brown.
– Will be euthanized
Shortly after the incident, two younger deer are said to have been observed fighting close to the crime scene, which should not be unusual for the season.

But beyond that dramatic incident, CPW has not received any recent reports of aggressive deer in the area.
– We are glad that the woman was not more seriously injured, says Brown.
He states that they are looking for the deer in question.
– If it is found, the deer will be euthanized to prevent future attacks on humans, the statement says.
