A very unusual situation arose during the Colorado Avalanche’s game against the Boston Bruins on Monday night. After a faceoff, Nathan MacKinnon hit the ref with a stick. The league has now spoken out.
Colorado superstar Nathan MacKinnon must have had some frustration built up there. After a lost faceoff in the center circle, MacKinnon complained to the referee. However, when he didn’t react, he swung his stick and hit the referee in the leg:

The league has now spoken with an official statement and this is quite surprising. According to the league, it was not MacKinnon’s intention to hit the referee, but the opponent.
So it was decided that there would be no disciplinary action against the Colorado Center. Here is the wording of the league statement:
