A Colorado inmate initiated a bold breakout from the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center emergency room. Ronald Caillier, 38, overpowered a deputy and a security officer before fleeing on foot, fleeing through the La Junta neighborhood. Caillier, who was being held on burglary and assault charges, managed to steal a white 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan, which had been left unlocked with the keys inside and a 9mm handgun beneath the driver’s seat. He is now on the run and considered armed and very dangerous.
Caillier reportedly stole a minivan and remains at large
While on the run, Caillier spotted a heavily damaged white 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan and stole it. The minivan had been left unlocked with the keys inside, as well as a 9mm handgun beneath the driver’s seat. The stolen vehicle has damage to the passenger side door and a cracked passenger side rear-view window. Caillier, who was already handcuffed, was last seen wearing black and white striped pants and an orange t-shirt.
Investigation and search efforts ongoing
The deputy and security guard who were overpowered during Caillier’s escape were treated for injuries and have been released.
