With three teams entered in the quarter-finals of the Espoirs, juniors Crabos and cadets Alamercery categories, Colomiers was well represented in the final stages for young people. A reassuring 3/4 which comes after a 2021-2022 exercise where no team had managed to qualify. Ultimate symbol of this return to form, the Espoirs who finished 2nd in Pool B with an excellent record of 13 wins and 5 losses in 18 games. Opposed in the quarter to Agen, 3rd in Pool A, the young players of La Colombe lost on the wire 13-17. The adventure therefore ends in Cahors, the protected duo Pédoussaut-Mémain having played this first round of play-off on neutral ground. A very tough duel against a tough-playing Lot-et-Garonne team, the game was 3-3 at the break before seeing the SUA overturn the match in the last minutes. Clap of end of a great adventure and a cycle for the hopeful group before certain changes to be expected, effective and staff included.
Great performance nonetheless
Another meeting on neutral ground, that of the Crabos juniors. Category where Colomiers has often distinguished himself, in particular by winning the shield in 2007 and 2019. This time against the ogre of pool 1, the LOU, the juniors could not get rid of the Rhodaniens and lost 38-22, in the Hérault at Mauguio. Led by 2 points at the break 18-16, the players trained by the Lacroix-Béco-Pons trio gave their all in an intense and rhythmic match but Lyonnais who scored two tries in the second half logically qualified. Finally, the Alamercery cadets evolving in Challenge, moved to their adversaries of Mont-de-Marsan. A big start to the match with a try scored after 6 minutes of play then the Landais went back to the lead at the break 10-8. A final achievement in the middle of the second half as a reaction but Stade Montois consolidated their lead thanks to their striker, final score 23-15. Time for the holidays now, the off-season will begin before a recovery set for the end of July.
