Rather spared in recent weeks, Colomiers has to deal with a new wave of injuries. Anthony Coletta and Mathis Galthié will thus miss long weeks.
It is perhaps the unprecedented length of this block of six games, the harsh winter we are going through or the very high level of intensity of the last meetings at Colomiers. The last one was particularly so. “It hit very, very hard,” smiled Waël Ponpon after the victory against Agen. And as is often the case in this kind of shock, the infirmary filled up.
From the start of the match, Alexandre Ricard had to leave his place, the fault of a concussion. The protocol was not passed, the second line could not return to the lawn. “He must observe an automatic ten-day absence,” said head coach Julien Sarraute. Ten minutes later, captain Anthony Coletta, seriously injured in the back, was carefully accompanied to the locker room. “He went to the emergency room straight away to calm the pain because he was in a lot of pain. He had tests on Monday.” Verdict: a herniated disc.
“There is a month of healing after the operation scheduled for Friday. Then two months of rehabilitation, testifies the captain columérin. My end of the season is compromised, but I do not lose hope.”
Galthié cut in full swing
And unfortunately, this is not the only bad news on the side of the columérin staff. Mathis Galthié suffered a hamstring injury. While he really imposed himself in the XV de la Colombe (4 tenures since the first of his career last January), the 21-year-old scrum-half will miss two to three months of competition. Ricard, Coletta, Galthié, to these three injured are added Pierre-Samuel Pacheco and Hugo Djehi, who should resume at the start of the next block, Fabien Perrin, Johan Deysel, Beka Sheklashvili and Romain Bézian. The latter, who has not played since September 10, 2021 due to postoperative complications, was originally scheduled for the trip to Oyonnax. But he experienced new setbacks with a viral infection. His return is envisaged for the reception of Aurillac on March 17. Finally, even if Thomas Girard has resumed training, Max Auriac is available to cover the back of the field. And that’s not too much…
