Colomiers. Thierry Argelier: “You have to keep a positive state of mind”

the essential
The Columérin captain, absent until the end of the season due to an injury, takes stock of the situation seven games before the end of the championship and a fight for maintenance.

Since the launch of the National 2 championship, Colomiers has always finished in the top 10 (3rd in 2017-2018, 10th in 2018-2019, 5th in 2019-2020 and 4th last season). In the agenda, by May 28, the Columérins have three receptions and four trips. The next day is set for April 9 on the ground of Angoulême (2nd).

Thierry, let’s first go back to last Saturday’s match and this new disappointment at home against Canet-en-Roussillon (2-3).

After such a scenario, there are bound to be a lot of regrets. We lead twice and we take this third goal at the very end of the match. We made new individual mistakes. It’s annoying not to be rewarded for our efforts.

This kind of defeat symbolizes your season, right?

Yes. Kind of. Since the start of the championship, we have been able to produce good things. But what we remember in the end are the results. And on this level, the report is fast. We have only four victories in twenty-three days and we are in second to last place.

How do you approach this end of the championship?

As for me, unfortunately I will no longer be able to help my teammates on the pitch due to injury. I think the group needs to rediscover an even more pronounced competitive instinct. I am thinking in particular of these individual errors that we have too often repeated since the start of the season and which are costing us dearly today.

How do you judge the seven days that await your teammates?

Honestly, I don’t think it’s very helpful to focus too much on the calendar. Given our place in the league, the calendar will obviously be complicated. In this kind of context, the priority is that the group remains focused on itself. It doesn’t matter who we face for these last seven games. We must continue to hang on and, above all, keep a positive state of mind. But on this level, I’m not too worried about the ability of the workforce to remain well-knit as since the start of the season.
