Colomiers. The Raid also fights endometriosis

More accustomed to controlling the insane, the men of the Raid can also mobilize to fight the disease. They just presented a check for 4,500 euros to the EndoFrance association. “This is the amount we raised during our last flagship tournament which brought together 24 rescue teams, last summer at the Capitany stadium in Colomiers,” explains the commander of the Raid, the elite unit of the national police. “After having helped the Petit Coeur de beurre association, which fights against congenital heart disease, in 2021, we have chosen to support EndoFrance this year to give our contribution to research but also to highlight this disease”.

10% of the women concerned

Little known despite a shock sponsor in the person of Stade Toulousain rugby player Thomas Ramos, endometriosis still affects 10% of women. It is often characterized by very intense pain during menstrual periods. Without treatment, it is the cause of 40% of infertility cases.

“Since January endometriosis has become a public health problem, which gives us more visibility,” acknowledges Yasmine Candau, president of EndoFrance who had made the trip to Colomiers. “300 to 400 events are organized every year in France to inform women and answer their questions. Donations help medical research fund projects.”

To inform young women and especially teenagers, Yasmine Candau has just published the comic “Clara’s Endometriosis” with Dunod editions. To reach all the public, the Toulouse branch of the association has a deaf volunteer who acts as a relay race with this population and offers autographed videos on the Endofrance Youtube channel.
