Today, first Saturday of the month, the Walkers of Hope who will meet from 11 am to noon at the Plein Center will express their support for migrants and “undocumented” people. They will follow the “course of Non-Violence”, from the effigy of Martin Luther King (Place du Lioran), to Gandhi’s totem (on the central square of rue du Center). There, they will form their “Circle of Silence” to protest against the fate of migrants and in particular against their confinement in the Administrative Detention Center (CRA): in their sights, particularly that of Cornebarrieu.
Saturday, the presence of the Walkers of Hope, associations and support groups for migrants (“Citizens for Peace”, “Le cercle des Voisins”, “Le Club des Citoyens”, “Tournefeuille sans papiers”, RESF 31, and their supporters) will also recall the last and tragic events in Calais. Peacefully, as they have always wanted to do, those who defend human rights, “the free movement of people, and denounce the system set up for the expulsion of people deprived of papers”, will express their indignation. and their anger at the sinking of the boat which recently claimed the lives of 27 migrants in the Channel, off Calais. “Our support will also go to the 53 people currently locked up at the ARC in Cornebarrieu, and to all those who died at sea or in the snow, in the Roya valley,” adds La Plateforme de Support aux Migrants.
