Colomiers. The handball club is on the rise

Established for more than 15 years in the town, USC (Union Sportive Colomiers) Handball, with its 320 licensees, continues its dynamic development, at the end of a Covid period which, if it has not impacted its number of members, suffers from a need for new volunteers. Interview with Nicole Guithou, president of the club for three seasons.

How is the club doing at the end of the season?

Pretty good. We are really relieved and happy to see our teams practicing again after all these stops related to the health crisis. Our numbers have increased slightly this season, with this year at the club 13 men’s and women’s teams in competition, from U11s to Seniors, not to mention our handball school and our leisure team.

Another year marked by health constraints…

Yes indeed. Despite the fact that the activity has resumed well for all of our members, its recovery has required a lot of effort for our volunteers. We had to adapt daily with the implementation of the health pass or the respect of the wearing of the mask, among others. We were in permanent adaptation, dictated by the health rules. I would like to thank everyone for their involvement. But I take this opportunity here to launch an appeal for the help of new volunteers, because the season has been long and has required a lot of energy.

Sportingly, a successful year?

First of all, I would like to remind you that one of the basics of the club is training. We attach great importance to advancing our young people and if possible keeping them as long as possible, until they join our senior teams. We were able to open two teams in certain categories. All have made enormous progress, whatever the level. On the side of our seniors, our boys are engaged in the regional championship while our women are in pre-national. Our club is developing at a good level and we still have room for improvement.

Events for the end of the season or novelties for next season?

We will celebrate this sports season in mid-June with all of our graduates. at the start of the school year, we will open a babyhand category for children aged 3 to 5.
