In the unknown before their first match of the second phase, the Couserannais were severely reframed by a more mobile and more applied Colomiers team (43-25). The Ariègeois will quickly want to raise the bar.
It’s the kind of encounter that gets your blood pumping. Of course there could be a thousand and one excuses in relation to the current context of this training, whether it is the health crisis or the lack of benchmarks of a group which has just lost its reserve. Nevertheless, Colomiers has just reminded the Ariège residents that they have a long way to go to be competitive at this level.
From the start, the locals put pressure on the Ariégeois who did not touch ground in the first minutes (4-0, 5th). A trend that cannot be reversed and which puts Clément Gaston and his guys in a critical situation from the start of the game (8-2, 9th). But the Oranges and Blues, simply Oranges this Saturday, manage to stop the bleeding and get into the game, maintaining the gap at the heart of this first act (14-6, 22nd). Faced with their opponent’s rapid play, the SGHBC did not find the solutions, and the gap remained unchanged when the referees sent everyone back to the locker room (18-11).
Upon their return to the field, the same evils overwhelm the Saint-Gironnais who are unable to keep up the pace. The gap continues to grow (30-18, 40th). The defense is suffering, Colomiers accelerates and drives the point home, determined to strike the iron while it is hot (37-21, 50th). The end of the match is on the same tempo as this second act, the visitors not finding the resources to respond to the rhythm of their hosts who impose themselves without trembling on a wide score (43-25).
The Ariégeois now know that they have their work cut out for them, and must plug the gaps in their project as quickly as possible, despite the difficulty of the task: the reception of Tarbes is already looming in Buffelan.
