Colomiers. Students are sensitized to the discrimination

Just prior to the containment, the high school Victor Hugo organised a Week against discrimination. “This event exists for fifteen years,” recalls Anne Faillefer, professor and member of the organizing team. “The idea came from students who had formed an association to fight against discrimination. The principal educational adviser, then took the relay, and today, 95 % of the classes in the institution participate in, from the Terminal to the 6th. The more young people are also very receptive”.

43 classes have therefore attended various presentations made by associations invited to participate, as part of their fight against at least one form of discrimination. “12 associations have proposed in a total of 70 interventions to students, an hour or two in the classes. Each class is positioned on the or slots that best suited ! Other associations are also come to make their actions in the lobby of the high School to inform the students during the time between classes.”

Citizen approach

Parents of students were also invited to an exchange on the subject : “We have enjoyed being associated with this initiative,” said Michele out. “I find that it is a citizen approach as much as educational, interesting to our children. Discrimination can be of all kinds, it is good to discuss them… and acting of course !”

In the lobby of the high School, a stand with several types of books loaned by the library to The Preface, was proposed to the students. Valentine, who held a permanent, renchérissait : “Personally, I attended a presentation related to sexual orientation and homophobia, which touched me a great deal !”
