Weaned from an official match for almost six months, Colomiers finally returned to competition, on Saturday August 7 at Capitany, facing a big chunk, the Puy Foot 43 Auvergne.
After long months of absence, we almost forget the faces of Patrice Maurel and his men. It must be said that their last official appearance dates back to February 7, 2021 on the occasion of the 7th round of the Coupe de France lost on penalties against Canet-en-Roussillon.
An opposition also somewhat ubiquitous, intended to save the competition reshaped in an emergency because of the health crisis, since the amateur championships were themselves suspended since October (last Colomiers match at Les Herbiers on October 28). An extremely complicated situation to manage for the clubs and the players, aggravated by a constant uncertainty, the final end of the championship not having been recorded until April 23, 2021. “A week before the resumption of the championship, we are told that finally We don’t start again! Training without playing at the weekend, it was the hardest thing to manage, “concedes striker Kevin Cardinali.
Three experienced recruits
To make matters worse, USC saw its preparation be truncated since during the resumption in early July, the discovery of several cases of Covid within the workforce resulted in the group being placed in isolation. “We have adapted by multiplying the friendly matches to get everyone afloat. The players do not have the same state of form, it is a headache for the staff but it is a trainer”, explains with pragmatism the coach Patrice Maurel.
Despite this unprecedented context and a limited budget compared to its competitors, Colomiers has worked on the contours of the workforce brought to battle, like every season, with the big cars of National 2. To date, seven movements have been recorded. While Valentin Delanys, Antoine Mille, Quentin Mazars and Yanel Temmar set sail, three experienced midfielders put their bags to Capitany: Mathieu Guerbert (29 years old, Gazélec Ajaccio), Mathias Serin (29 years old, AS Béziers ) and Mamadou Camara (28, AS Muret).
Although satisfied by the transfer window, Patrice Maurel warns: “Given our very difficult preparation, we will have to be extremely united and determined during the first days.” And it starts on August 7 with the reception of one of the candidates for the first places: the Puy Foot 43 Auvergne.
