Colomiers relies on the double project

the essential
Launched by Benjamin Gascoin, the academy has five players this season, ranked from 15/2 to 2/6, who can follow their education at the club’s facilities.

“When I proposed this project to the club, I immediately had the support of the members of the office. Our particularity concerns the education since our young people can follow their courses on our facilities with teachers via our partner Sport Etudes Academy, directed by Emilie Moreau. ” Launched by Benjamin Gascoin, the US Colomiers tennis academy is in its fifth season, with Swan Rives (CM2, 15/2), Mathieu Roy (3rd, 5/6), Jules Cabanes (1st, 5 / 6), Morgane Roy (terminal, 2/6) and Vincent Rachedi (terminal, 5/6).

“We are especially interested in the player’s project”

By launching this project, Benjamin Gascoin first of all wanted to improve the training of the club’s young people and create in the long term a link to the two pennant teams (ladies and gentlemen) playing in Pro A, the highest level in France. But it does not seek to build only tennis players of a good regional or national level. “To join our academy, the ranking is not the priority. We will especially be interested in the project of the player established with his parents, his motivation and his desire to invest a little more in his passion. However, we know It is true that they will not all become pros. We are therefore seeking to build men and women. Thus, the school component is important. It is really a double project. Our young people can also have an education in establishments ” classics “, in particular the college Sainte-Thérèse of Colomiers”, explains the sports director of the USCT.

“We were lucky during the second confinement”

For his part, Lucas Vincent, who arrived at the club last year, took on the role of director of the academy this season. “Despite the health situation, we were lucky during the second confinement with a dispensation that allowed our five young people to return to play at the club. Obviously, they are eager to resume competition. Nevertheless, the fact of having being able to resume training allows them to stay involved. On average, in terms of sessions, we shoot between 15 and 20 hours per week. And for now, since the launch of the academy, our young people shine in terms of studies and in terms of tennis with rankings between 2/6 and 0 “, specifies the one assisted by Amira Benaissa, Régis Courtois and Sofyen Nsiri (physical trainer). Hope it lasts.
