Colomiers. Olympic gymnasts expected at Capitany

Thanks to its equipment, the Regional House of Gymnastics Activities (MAG) was chosen to host an international delegation of artistic gymnastics and trampoline, in view of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris 2024. Like 618 other French sites, 42 of which are in Occitanie, Colomiers becomes a preparation center.

“We are very proud that the Organizing Committee for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games has accepted the candidacy of Colomiers”, rejoices Karine Traval-Michelet, mayor of the city. “This choice is a new recognition of the

quality of our sports infrastructure and our ability to accommodate top athletes in our municipality. “

Nursery of Champions

Within the Capitany sports complex, MAG has 4,300 m2 of facilities. It was also well designed to accommodate the 1,400 graduates of the Etoile gymnique and the offices of the Occitanie Regional Gymnastics Committee, as well as to organize national and international events. “Since its opening in June 2013, the Regional House of Gymnastics Activities has benefited high-level athletes on several occasions,” adds Philippe Briançon, Deputy Mayor for Sport. “We remember in particular the re-entry camp for the French trampoline team, which came to take advantage of the facilities in September 2019, in order to prepare for the world championships, or the arrival of the Belgian national team, which was preparing the Rio Olympics in 2016. For their part, the gymnasts of the Etoile gymnique de Colomiers had the opportunity to share training sessions with the Algerian and Welsh national teams “.

From 12 to 14 November, if the sanitary context allows it, the Gymnastic Star will organize at MAG the International Open Masters in trampoline and tumbling with more than 200 national and international athletes.

The strengths of the “MAG”

To accommodate the best gymnasts in the world, La MAG (Regional House of Gymnastics Activities) has many approved spaces. Namely, a training hall of 800 m2, a competition hall of 2000 m2, and 11 meters under the ceiling, with performance areas, trampoline and rhythmic gymnastics, as well as stands with a capacity of 700 to 1,200 seats depending on the configuration. Eleven changing rooms, adjoining rooms, a warm-up room, a specialized baby gym and seniors room, a weight room, a medical area, offices, a training area and meeting rooms, but also a club house with a reception area and a terrace complete this modern and functional equipment.

In addition to the quality of the facilities, the Organizing Committee for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games was also attentive to the environment of the structure: the hotel capacity of the town, the presence of a catering area in the area or the near the airport.
