Two tributes punctuated Karine Traval-Michelet’s wishes to local actors and community partners last night at Hall Comminges. The first was returned to Fabien Jouvé, elected columérin and teacher at the Voltaire college, who died last August, to whom the mayor dedicated the ceremony. “I particularly greet two people, Aurore and Manon, the companion and daughter of Fabien Jouvé, our colleague, our friend, who left us suddenly in the heart of the summer of 2022″, declared moved Karine Traval-Michelet. “In starting these wishes, and looking back to the year 2022, it is obviously Fabien that I think of and I pay tribute to him again this evening and I thank you all, who were there in August. last to support us, to surround us and surround his family”.
Four priorities
After a forced break of two years marked by the Covid and more recently by various geopolitical and energy crises, the mayor has resumed the exercise of wishes to “reaffirm the course and sometimes adjust it”. She highlighted four priorities that will animate the next few days until the end of the mandate. “We are facing a quadruple emergency” declared Karine Traval-Michelet. “The climate emergency first of all. COP 27 has again reminded us that our governments are not acting fast enough or strong enough in the fight against climate change and the preservation of biodiversity. Then the economic emergency , with soaring energy prices, with the return of inflation to forgotten levels, which are overhauling our consumption patterns and again calling for a change of model. The social emergency of course, which calls for more redistribution, more social, fiscal and economic justice. These three emergencies call for another, the democratic emergency”.
Free canteen for the most modest, aid from the CCAS for the most fragile, support for solidarity associations are part of municipal actions in terms of social emergencies.
tree year
“The resolution of the climate challenge must not oppose the response to the social emergency”, underlined the mayor. “Our responsibility is precisely to reconcile them. We will have to go beyond our commitments to meet the imperative of ecological resilience of our territory. With this in mind, we have chosen to place this year 2023 under the sign of the tree. This year, more than 800 trees will be planted in Colomiers. The trees will be the green thread of our actions”.
To close the vows ceremony, a second tribute was paid to Abdel Chouari and his young Break in School talents who became world champions of break dance, on December 2, in Japan. It is therefore to the rhythm of hip-hop that the evening continued.
