After three months of forced rest, Colomiers (N2, 3rd in Group D) did not miss his resumption on Sunday in the Coupe de France (4-0) on the lawn of Luzenac (R1). For this 7th round, Patrice Maurel’s men are back on their ground today (1:30 p.m.) against Canet, one of their opponents in the league. Act I at the end of August (2nd day), in the Pyrénées-Orientales, ended with a goalless draw.
Looking back, what do you remember from your performance last Sunday?
It was necessarily a special context with this long break without competition. There was a lot of impatience. But also a mixture of fear and euphoria. When I speak of fear, it was about our ability to manage our emotions well because we had to get used to the rhythm of an official match. We also had a status to honor with two divisions apart. What’s more in Luzenac, where it’s never easy to evolve. But at the finish, both technically and mentally, the boys made a good copy.
At the break, you were already three goals ahead.
Yes, the scenario of this first period obviously made it possible to better manage the rest of the meeting.
Did you have your full complement?
Lately, every week we have had an average of two to three injuries. But I was not too worried because I know that I can count on a homogeneous group.
On the physical level, you were a tone above the Ariégeois.
With the health crisis, we had to adapt to continue training. But the boys did a good job. So physically, I knew my players were in good shape.
How do you approach this reunion with the Canet?
Yes, we have this team in our pool. And we know that the opposition will be totally different from the match against Luzenac. But the most important thing is to keep a Cup mindset. For now, this is the only competition that we can still compete. Regarding the championship, there might be a possibility to resume. But it still seems unlikely to me.
