During the last city council, elected Columérins voted unanimously for exceptional financial aid of €5,000 to the Secours Populaire Français, in order to support humanitarian actions for the benefit of the Ukrainian people.
“These donations will make it possible to purchase, by the partner organizations with which the Secours populaire works, basic necessities on the spot, in order to support the local economy, to provide rapid humanitarian support without directly assuming the costs of delivery , and to adapt with great flexibility to changing local needs by providing the populations concerned with products that are familiar to them”, explains Arnaud Simion, first deputy mayor in charge of human solidarity.
A partnership has notably been established with a Polish humanitarian organization in the Przemyśl region, in order to provide material support to Ukrainian refugees (adults and children) present in this border region. Another partnership has also been established with a Ukrainian solidarity association which helps resident or displaced populations near the Moldavian border, in the Odessa region.
Different actions
Since the beginning of the conflict, the city of Colomiers has carried out several actions. Material and financial collections have been undertaken, in particular with the Civil Protection and several charities. Reception of refugees in Colomiers is also underway with the inventory of available accommodation and a reception period at the town hall for Ukrainian families and Columérine families who are hosting them.
