Colomiers. Lucie, the only Columérine born in the town

Here is the story of an extraordinary columérine adventure, where “all’s well that ends well” … On October 23, when she was a few days from the end of her pregnancy, Isabelle Cluchet felt a few contractions. Nothing alarming then. She encourages her companion, Matthieu, to leave for work without fear. Only here, ten minutes later, the pain intensifies, and there everything accelerates. Just enough time to call Matthieu back, alert Samu… And pretty little Lucie has already pointed the tip of her nose! Isabelle then showed exceptional coolness. As soon as she was reassured by the first cries of her baby, she had the reflex to cover her up and keep her warmly against her.

An improvised delivery room

“I didn’t have time to panic, my top priority was for Lucie to be fine!” Isabelle confides. “For my part, while behind the wheel and on the way back, I admit being a little distraught when I realized that my daughter was born and that Isabelle was the only one to manage this arrival from home,” admits Matthieu.

In a short moment, the firefighters, the confused daddy and then the pediatric Samu, arrive at his bedside. Quick and efficient treatment, like in a real delivery room, leaving Matthieu the opportunity to cut the cord himself. Transported separately to the Paule-de-Viguier maternity unit, Lucie and her mother were reunited again within the hour. 49 cm and 3.2 kg of pure happiness for this young couple, who reminisces with emotion this unprecedented episode. “We would like to sincerely thank the firefighters, the Samu, the hospital staff and the services of the town hall of Colomiers for their dedication and their support”, would like to stress Isabelle and Matthieu. Lucie has just celebrated her first Christmas.

Out of 404 births recorded in Colomiers, in 2020, she is the only Columérine born on the municipal territory!
