Actress, director and producer, Julie Gayet, will inaugurate the new Grand Central cinema on Saturday evening. Guided tour.
Grand Central, the new cinema in Colomiers, will open its doors to the public on Saturday 23 October at 8:30 p.m., after being officially inaugurated in the morning by Karine Traval-Michelet, mayor of Colomiers, in the presence of Julie Gayet, godmother of Grand Central. “Julie Gayet is an actress, director, producer, and involved in the Collective 50/50, which campaigns for gender equality in the film industry. We are very proud that she accepted our proposal!” emphasizes Marie Vassort, who is supporting the transition from Central to Grand Central. “It embodies what we are and what we want to stay: both popular and demanding. The Grand Central will of course retain the specificity of” Art house “, therefore the promotion of independent cinema!”.
A gift for the holidays
Caroline Vauchère, Deputy Mayor for Culture, is delighted to respond, within the announced deadlines, to the impatience of a public who closely followed the progress of the work, in particular since the closure of the (“small”) Central, three weeks ago. “The wait is strong, curiosity too…”, notes the elected. “Young people, in particular, are really eager to discover the place. We wanted to open for the school holidays, and with an attractive” launch “price during all the All Saints holidays: € 4 for children under 14, € 6 otherwise”.
Five rooms and 772 seats
There is no doubt that a large audience will come as soon as possible to discover the five cinemas of the Grand Central (and their comfortable 772 seats), which promise some 350 films per year, and now offer new services as detailed by Jean Villa, Managing Director of Sagec. Cinema / Véo, which manages Grand Central as a public service delegation. “The Twavox device, free to download, makes it possible to broadcast audio, audio description and subtitles on the smartphones of people who are hard of hearing or visually impaired. Specific sessions with subtitles will also be offered to the hearing impaired” . Armchairs are also reserved for people with reduced mobility, in the first and last row, accessible by a dedicated lift.
More beautiful but also more expensive …
During a previous municipal council, elected officials voted the prices for the Grand Central cinema which will come into force after the All Saints holidays, given the attractive launch price (see above).
A full price seat will cost € 8.90 compared to € 5.80 at the old Le Central cinema. The reduced rate also increases from € 4.50 to € 6.30, as well as the ten-seat non-nominative subscription valid for one year which will cost € 59 instead of € 42. The smallest increase concerns those under 14 who will have to pay € 4.50 against € 4 so far.
“The average price of around € 6 is slightly higher than the current rate but still 8.5% cheaper than the national average,” says Caroline Vauchère, deputy mayor responsible for culture. People who have a subscription will be able to continue using it at an additional cost.
In addition, as of now, and over the coming weeks, new services, workshops and activities will further expand Grand Central’s offering. In the immediate future, its arguments already make it possible to position it in a good place in the list of columérines outputs….
