The Grand Central team particularly recommends three appointments for this fortnight. With his latest feature film “Twist in Bamako”, Robert Guédiguian leaves his beloved city of Marseille to film the love and enthusiasm of Malian youth after the country’s independence in the early 1960s. Superbly embodied by Stéphane Bak and the masterful Alicia Da Luz, this edifying historical account alternates celebration and nostalgia.
Sunday January 16 at 6:30 p.m., Grand Central offers its first “Opéra-Ballet” broadcast of the season: the ballet “Le Lac des cygnes”, with the dancers of the Ballet Preljocaj, broadcast from the Théâtre national de la Danse Chaillot at the rate single charge of €17 (or €14 at a reduced rate). Angelin Preljocaj reconnects here with narrative ballet, mixing Tchaikovsky’s musical masterpiece with more contemporary arrangements as he likes to do.

Friday January 21 at 8 p.m., “Waiting for Bojangles”, by Regis Roinsard, with Virginie Efira and Romain Duris, will be the subject of a “Ciné-Rencontre” in partnership with the La Préface bookstore. This touching and whimsical dramatic comedy is adapted from the eponymous bestseller by Olivier Bourdeaut. The evening will therefore begin with readings of a corpus of texts selected by Olivier Bourdeaut as part of the Nuits de la Lecture. This will be followed by the screening of the film, a meeting and a signing session with Olivier Bourdeaut. The evening is offered at the single price of €6 (or €4.50 for children under 14).
