Housed since 2018 alley from Cerdagne to Colomiers by Altéal, Driss Berrada, his partner and their five children are sounding the alarm. The apartment located on the ground floor is nevertheless spacious, and offers all the comforts for the family. But for several months, they have been living an ordeal. Between rats, mould, excrement of animals from the neighborhood at the foot of their windows, without heating or hot water, the family is forced to live, windows closed, in the living room, converted into a dormitory and a pantry. The old faulty boiler generated a bill of more than €7,000 that the family was unable to pay. This resulted in a gas cut in the accommodation. In December, at the request of their lawyer, a bailiff came to see the state of the accommodation.
Altéal is “fully mobilized”
Contacted, the Columérin social landlord, Altéal, indicated that it had recently carried out work “in order to remedy technical malfunctions related to the boiler, and to make improvements in terms of adaptation to people with reduced mobility.” Altéal has indeed carried out a “replacement of the defective boiler in October 2021”. As well as “the adaptation of the apartment in March 2022, in order to make it accessible to a person with reduced mobility by replacing the existing shower cabin with a shower tray and installing a wall.” , at the request of the tenant. Beautification work on the accommodation would also have been carried out (repainting of the walls, floors, sink unit, formwork, etc.). On January 10, Altéal called in its services to ascertain the various facts. “Our services moved, and were able to note, the absence of humidity in the accommodation as well as the obstruction of certain air inlets at the level of the kitchen, which could alter the good ventilation of the space.” Finally, the lessor confirmed “the registration of Mr. Berrada’s request for rehousing.” However, the services are currently unable to “supply this request given the processing times and the criteria used by the Altéal allocation committee.” Altéal’s services ensure that they are “fully mobilized” and “follow this file and study all avenues to provide support to this family, in conjunction with their social worker.”
