For two years, new ambassadors of the ecological cause have appeared in schools across the country. The Lycée Victor Hugo is no exception to this rule. From the end of September, the elections for eco-delegates took place in the classes. They are the first players in the ecological question in schools and play an essential role in raising awareness and mobilizing to make French secondary schools and high schools spaces of biodiversity, at the forefront of the fight against global warming.
Maeva, Kim, Sarah and Elliot are four of them, first and third year students. They are about forty in all, all convinced they can change things on their small local scale. “We are here to encourage all students and staff to participate in our cause, commensurate with their means. There are no small actions. Put together, these are new consumption habits that we can transmit and apply in our high school as in our everyday life “they explain.
One of their first big projects has been organized since the return of the school holidays: “Armoire, open”. Its goal is to collect the largest number of clothes that are most used in order to donate 20% of it for free within the school itself, in the form of a giant thrift store. The rest will be sent to Burkina Faso via a humanitarian association. “We were very enthusiastic. The 1000 items of clothing mark was exceeded during the two days of collection” declares Anne Pasturel, Senior Education Advisor. “Clothing of all types and for all audiences, including babies” congratulate the quartet of eco-delegates.
Many projects will see the light of day, especially during the ecological challenge (Green Day) launched by the Toulouse academy, the eco-delegates as well as the members of the CVL will organize a green week until November 27 within the establishment. . A Clean Up (cleaning operation) and action towards zero waste are already planned.
