The theme chosen this month is: “The awakening of a new Chile: from a multifaceted anger to the drafting of a new constitution…”
Jean-Marc Vigroux, priest of the Diocese of Albi, on a mission to Santiago from 2016 to 2020, will give his testimony.
In Chile, large-scale social movements began in October 2019. The violence of the demonstrations surprised the political power, which found itself destabilized. Even if the health crisis has caused a slowdown, a process of constitutional change is underway: establishment of a constituent assembly in May 2021, election of Gabriel Boric as President of the Republic (at the age of 35 )… It seems that the Pinochet era is well and truly over.
