After the frustration felt in Nevers, Anthony Coletta recalls the importance of the end of the match against such opponents. Especially since Aviron Bayonnais, which travels to Michel-Bendichou this Thursday, is still undefeated.
Do you see your trip to Nevers as a good point or a victory that you missed?
We are rather disappointed because we had the victory in our hands. One minute from the end, by a twist of fate, we end up losing it. We have to settle on the “money time” because all the matches of this level will be played on small details. And on this one, we were not up to the task.
Exactly, can we expect an identical scenario against Bayonne this Thursday?
It’s going to be a very tense match, which will be tight and will also be played on details. This (the defeat in Nevers, Editor’s note) should serve as a lesson to us. We are aware of our mistakes, we train well to rectify them. And we’ll see how the match goes.
How do you prepare for an opponent who is still undefeated and in the top three just like you?
Obviously, it’s a dense team with a lot of players who have experience in the Top 14. They have been prepared to play intense games. But it doesn’t just offer density, that’s not their greatest asset. It’s a team that plays rugby very well, is fast and well established. She plays well collectively and has this surplus of soul, a bit in our image, to make matches in intensity. She likes to play out of order, so this team looks a lot like us and maybe does it a little better than us. They are still undefeated today so we will try to measure up.
You are one of Colomiers’ strong men at the start of the season. How do you explain it?
(hesitates) I’m not sure what to say to you. I’ve been here for a year, playing game after game and trying to do the best I can. Like every player, I try to give my all. I work hard to be successful. I find that there is always room for improvement. But today I have playing time and I continue in this direction to have some.
Is this the philosophy of the game that suits you?
Yes I am necessarily comfortable, I play with teammates who are very efficient. We play a sport where we depend on each other so if my teammates are good, so am I. Our team is very complementary. There is no star. Some players stand out for their performance but it’s always like that. When the collective is efficient, there are players who stand out. Maybe I’m part of it right now, good for me. We must continue so that it lasts a long time.
