The Columérins who open the new exercise tomorrow, at home, against Provence Rugby, have the ambition to qualify for the finals at the end of it. President Alain Carré and his team do not forget to develop the club in its structures either.
Serene and above all impatient to see the season finally start, Alain Carré, president of Colomiers Rugby, is anxious to see the new columérine cuvée at work in a Pro D2 championship which is constantly rising. The strong man of the columérin club talks about his ambitions and projects for the months to come.
> The objective: qualification
“It is the same as last season: the qualification”, admits Alain Carré before specifying: “Me, I dream of a semi-final at home. But on that, the staff did not answer me. But I am aware that every year, the bar is higher. Because there are those who missed it and who will want to be there, those who were there and who want to be there again, so there will be a fight for the qualification . ” And the president clarified: “I remember that two years ago, we had finished in cannonball before the championship was interrupted. On the other hand, last season, we missed each other on the last two matches ( in Soyaux-Angoulême and against Aurillac, Editor’s note). We have things to reproach ourselves with. We will have to remember that. “
> The workforce: stable and consistent
“We had little turnover with in the end five recruits and thirteen departures. In addition, many young people trained at the club who are rising and who want to show that we are not wrong to trust them. coherent and in line with our resources “, specifies Alain Carré, who confirms a stable budget for this season of € 7.6 million.
> The health crisis overcome
“We were still lucky enough to be able to play our championship more or less normally. In the end, we reimbursed all the subscribers who wanted it, knowing that a little more than half of them did not claim it. . As for our partners, more than 90% of them have maintained their partnership despite the closed session. It is remarkable. It gives balm to the heart to move forward “, welcomes the president columérin before follow up on the health pass: “We are going to comply with it and I believe that it will eventually become commonplace. On the other hand, if someone shows up and there is not the green arrow, what do we do with him? “
> A new receptive space in the making
New developments are expected at the Michel-Bendichou stadium. Thus, on the balcony of the upper gallery, a building permit has been filed in order to set up a large reception area that can accommodate 300 to 400 people. “It will be a friendly space, open on the ground, between the individual box and the simple place in the grandstand”, specifies Alain Carré. “There will be performances before the match and at half-time. But nothing afterwards. It remains the exclusivity of the club house and the partners’ tent. It is a project entirely financed by the SASP.” Inauguration scheduled for September 2022.
> A ground covered in the pipes
Another major file that would this time be carried out in consultation with the town hall and financed by it: the development of land N.3 where the frontiers are used to their yoke sessions. “We plan to build a building of 60mx30m, covered and open to the N.2 field. We would install a synthetic lawn and a photovoltaic roof to supply the whole complex. This sheltered field would be used for the pros but also for the whole club, for the rugby school in particular “, explains Alain Carré who presented the project to the town hall of Colomiers.
> And the Top 14, are we talking about it?
While Colomiers is structured, his team intends to settle permanently in the leading peloton of the Pro D2, inevitably, the question of accession to the Top 14 could one day arise. “Nobody talks about it for the moment”, slips the president columérin mischievously. But behind the scenes, the club is preparing for all eventualities. Thus, a capital increase by way of a shareholder is in progress. The latter would then hold 30 to 40% but would not be in the majority. Thus giving more financial solidity to the club in case …
