Colombo-Venezuelan Binational Orchestra, the example that there are no borders in music

The renowned double bass player Álvaro Carrillo was born in Valledupar, but his family was displaced by the paramilitaries and they began a new life in Caracas. When he was only five years old, his mother enrolled him in the System of Children’s Orchestras of Venezuela and from there his passion for music began.

After migrating to Colombia, together with Arex Aragón, the double bass player Álvaro Carrillo created Fundimusicol, a Foundation for the Musical Integration of Colombia, an artistic project with a social nature that seeks to improve the lives of young Colombians and Venezuelans. Thanks to this, today the Binational Orchestra has more than a thousand musicians from both countries. A powerful message that crosses borders.
