ColombiAR: Seven Young Presenters Chosen to Promote Tourist Routes in Colombia

At the call of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Fontur and Canal 13, 1,100 applicants registered, of which the seven ‘Colombians’ who will be in charge of promoting the same number of tourist routes were selected.

Seven young people between the ages of 19 and 28 were chosen by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Fontur and Canal 13, as the presenters of ColombiAR, the first DocuReality (documentary in reality format) on tourism in our country.

ColombiAR is part of the strategy announced by President Gustavo Petro Urrego to promote ‘Colombia, the country of beauty’ in all international markets as a tourist destination.

Those chosen are a psychologist, a Social Communication student, a tourism advisor, a DJ, a tourist guide, an audiovisual creative and a dancer. They will be in charge of promoting seven tourist routes in the country, and to do so this week the first recordings will begin and will be broadcast on public television.

The seven ‘Colombians’ Each one will tell their experience on the topic that corresponds to them: material heritage, ancestral knowledge, flavors, unique ecosystems, territories of peace, crafts and our magical Macondo.

The call

For the call, which started on September 14 in the cities of Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Bucaramanga, Pereira and Barranquilla, 1,100 young people registered, of which 487 were preselected and went to the casting stage. Of them, 21 were chosen, and among these the seven ‘Colombians’ were chosen.

For the selection, the jury took into account aspects such as talent, personal history, desire, idiosyncrasy, oral and body expression, ability to improvise on camera, interest in tourism and other unique characteristics of the interested parties.

“In these seven young people, the richness and cultural diversity of our communities is represented, which also makes us ‘the country of beauty,’” said the Vice Minister of Tourism, Arturo Bravo.

Álvaro Balcárcel, general manager of Fontur, highlighted “the great reception that this multimedia project has had, which aims to encourage the active participation of young people in the country’s tourism. The new generations are transforming the dynamics of travel, demanding innovative and environmentally responsible experiences, very much in line with the Government’s vision for sustainable tourism development,” he considered.

The seven ‘Colombians’

The winners of the call that will be part of ColombiAR are:

– María Angélica García Lora: 19 years old, from Barranquilla, Atlántico. She will visit the Material Heritage route.

– Mariana Cano Palacios: 19 years old, from the municipality of San José de la Montaña, Antioquia. She will visit the Ecosystems route.

– Manuela Alejandra Alfonso Huertas: 19 years old, from the municipality of Mosquera, Cundinamarca. She will visit the Crafts route.

– Laura Arboleda Valencia: 26 years old, from Envigado, Antioquia. She will visit the Macondo route.

– Luis David Rodríguez Molina: 22 years old, from the rural area of ​​Neiva, Huila. He will visit the Ancestral Knowledge route.

– John Anderson Gutiérrez Calderón: 28 years old, from San José del Guaviare. He will visit the Peace Route.

– Juan David Martínez Parra: 28 years old, from Buriticá, Magdalena. He will visit the Flavors route.
