Colombian immigration chief raises solution to transit through Táchira

The protector of the Táchira state, Freddy Bernal, reported that he will submit to the Presidential Commission for the Control and Prevention of the Covid-19, a proposal presented by the head of Immigration of the North of Santander, César Duarte, which consists of conducting a screening of nationals who are in Colombian territory, before entering the country.

Bernal explained that the proposal presented is that “they will do a screening supported by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and later we will validate it, so that the nationals can enter and perhaps minimize the quarantine time that they must have before to return to their home states. “

He pointed out that, in the North of Santander, there are some 2,000 people repressed and thousands more, in various cities of Colombia.

“I will submit the proposal to the Presidential Commission, chaired by the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, so that it is studied at the high level and we can guarantee greater coordination in the entry of compatriots and thus avoid the entry of the Coronavirus,” he pointed out.

Bernal published in his twitter account «Colombia and Brazil are two latent threats that we have before Covid_19. It is our duty to guarantee the safe arrival of the Venezuelan brothers who cross their country day after day and provide them with shelter, love and protection from the vilification they suffered in other countries.

He also wrote, “In these difficult times for humanity, we must join forces for a common good: the security of our peoples. From the National Government, we will continue working to guarantee the protection of compatriots along the 164 km of border. “

39 thousand Venezuelans who entered the country through the Táchira border return to their homes

Through the so-called “Tachira Doctrine”, more than 39 thousand compatriots returned from other parts of the continent along the border with Colombia, have completed the period of quarantine in the Andean state and have been returned to their entities of origin.

This was expressed by the Protector of the region, Freddy Bernal, who commented on the success that the organization has had in receiving and caring for Venezuelans, to prevent an outbreak of Covid-19 in the region, through the Biosafety protocols that are applied before, during and after the stay of the compatriots in Tachire soil.

He stressed that the basis of success lies in the articulated work between different government institutions, who unite daily to establish a perfect alliance in order to safeguard the lives of compatriots arriving from Colombia.

He indicated that the Bolivarian Government will maintain these tasks of protection and prevention, from the border area where people who cross the international “Simón Bolívar” bridge are received, to the care in the different Comprehensive Social Care Points, where they comply with the quarantine before of being transferred to their home states.

The information was provided by Freddy Bernal from the passenger terminal of San Antonio del Táchira, during the delivery of various supplies carried out by the United Nations, to guarantee a better quality of life for compatriots who occupy the PASI.
