Colombian family of five disappears in Zacatecas

Mexican authorities are searching for a Colombian family of five who disappeared on October 27 in Calera, Zacatecas, Mexico.

The family is made up of a 6-year-old girl, three boys ages 3, 6 and 11; and two adults, a 36-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man.

The Zacatecas Prosecutor’s Office issued search files for each of the members of this family, whose immigration status is unknown.

The authorities have not released the circumstances in which the family disappeared, although local media report that they were kidnapped by an armed commando of organized crime who entered their home.

The Zacatecas Prosecutor’s Office published the search files and activated the Alba Protocol and the Amber Alert.

In the files of the three minors, it was alerted that there was fear for the integrity of the three, as they could be victims of some other crime.

In September, seven teenagers disappeared in Zacatecas and all but one were found dead days later.

Zacatecas has the second highest rate of homicides per 100 thousand inhabitants, with 87 in 2022. This is above the national average of 25. Only below Colima’s index of 113, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi ).
