Colombians receive the largest share of the Grammy Awards for Latin music
Colombians Shakira, Karol G, Camilo and Juanes won the largest share of the Grammy Latin Music Awards, which reward the best albums and artists originating from Latin America, and were awarded Thursday for the first time outside the United States, in the Spanish city of Seville.
The ceremony of distributing musical rewards, the most important of which is in Spanish and Portuguese, began at 9:30 GMT.
As usual, an opening was held during which 46 of the 56 awards given during the evening were announced.
Colombians won the largest share of awards. Shakira and Karol G, who received seven nominations each in this 24th edition of the Latin Recording Academy Awards, won the Best Performance award for their song.
The artist who won the largest number of awards during the presentation was Mexican Edgar Barrera, who participated as a composer for many songs that received nominations. Barrera was the person who received the most nominations for these awards, with thirteen nominations, while he won three awards, including Producer of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.
This is the first time that the celebration is held outside the United States.
Since 2000, the Latin Grammy Awards have been dedicated to the best albums, songs and artists in the field of Latin music, while the Grammy Awards relate to the American music industry.
It is customary to organize the party in Las Vegas, although it has previously also been held in other American cities that contain a large number of residents of Latin American origins, such as Miami, New York, and Houston.
In 2022, Spanish star Rosalia won the Latin Grammy Award for Best Album for “Motomami.”
