With this delivery, the third in the European country, the total of vaccines donated by Spain to Colombia will amount to 6,546,070 doses of Pfizer and AstraZeneca.
“The donation shows, once again, Spain’s commitment to the health and well-being of the Colombian people, following strictly epidemiological criteria endorsed by the Pan American Health Organization (OPS), “the statement added.
FIRST DONOR OF VACCINES TO COLOMBIA
This donation places Spain as the first international donor of vaccines to Colombia, followed by the United States, with 6,000,000 doses to date.

COMMITMENT TO COOPERATION
The embassy recalls that for this reason, the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced, during the XXVII Ibero-American Summit, that he was holding in Andorra, a donation of at least 7.5 million vaccines for countries in this American region, that has been materializing since last August.

According to data from the Colombian Ministry of Health, The country has received 84.3 million vaccines against covid-19 and a total of 64,690,489 doses were applied throughout 2021.
Of that total, 28,323,837 million people already have their full immunization schedule, while 3,324,832 have received a booster dose.
The embassy of Spain also highlighted that that country has donated more than 50 million vaccines to date, which positions it as the sixth largest donor in the world and the fourth in the European Union.
