A plane from the Colombian Aerospace Force (FAC) arrived in Mexico with 15 tons of humanitarian aid for those affected by Hurricane Otis, which occurred last October, President Gustavo Petro Urrego reported this Wednesday.
“Our solidarity aid has arrived in Acapulco,” said the head of state on his X account (formerly Twitter).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that “there are about 15 tons of non-perishable food sent by Colombia for the Mexican brothers affected by Hurricane Otis.”
For his part, the Colombian ambassador to Mexico, Álvaro Moisés Ninco, stated that “Colombia and Mexico are united by solidarity. 2,600 support kits sent by President Gustavo Petro for the population of Guerrero affected by Hurricane Otis. President @lopezobrador_, count on Colombia!”
The humanitarian aid, arranged by the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD), arrived at the Felipe Ángeles International Airport, located in Mexico City, on a Boeing 737 aircraft of the FAC that took off from the Military Transport Air Command. (CATAM) on Tuesday afternoon.
The director of the UNGRD, Olmedo López Martínez, explained that “after the impact of Hurricane Otis on the Mexican coast of Guerrero, Colombia allocated humanitarian aid to help address the most urgent needs of the affected population, particularly in the city of Acapulco. ”.
