Saïd R., one of the main suspects in the Marengo trial, may be extradited to the Netherlands. That has been decided by the Supreme Court in Colombia, reports The Telegraph.
Earlier, the Public Prosecution Service said it expected that R. could come this way in the short term. He has raised no objection to his extradition.
The 49-year-old R. was born at the beginning of last year arrested in the Colombian metropolis of Medellín. Since then, he has been held in a prison in the capital Bogota. He was designated by crown witness Nabil B. as the right-hand man of Ridouan Taghi.
R. would have been an important intermediary for Taghi’s murder assignments. The Public Prosecution Service states that R. would have directed ‘spotters’ for various liquidations: people who observe a target.
Internationally wanted
The American anti-drug unit DEA and the FBI assisted in the arrest of R. At the time, this was done in close cooperation with the Dutch police and the Public Prosecution Service. He tried to flee when he was arrested and suffered minor injuries.
Before his arrest, he was wanted internationally and was on national and international wanted lists.
