Colombia adds 204 deaths from covid-19, the lowest daily figure in a month

Colombia registered 204 deaths from covid-19 this Thursday, August 20, the lowest daily death toll in a month, bringing the accumulated number of fatalities from the pandemic in the country to 16,183, according to the Ministry’s daily report. of health.

The country did not show such a low death toll since last July 20 when it reported 193 deaths, added the health authority, according to which among the 204 deaths computed today there are 23 corresponding to June and July.

Equally 11,541 new infections were reported, bringing the total number of positive cases to 513,719, of which 157,391, corresponding to 30.64%, are still active.

Regarding the fatalities of the day, 60 were registered in Bogotá, followed by the departments of Córdoba (24), Antioquia (23), Santander (16), Valle del Cauca (14), Norte de Santander and Nariño, both with 10 .

According to the report, 18 of the 24 deaths computed this Thursday in Córdoba occurred in June and July.

The rest of the deaths occurred in Atlántico (8), Cesar (7), Bolívar and Tolima (5), Magdalena, Cundinamarca and Caquetá (4), Risaralda (3), La Guajira and Meta (2), and Casanare and Huila ( 1), as well as one in Vichada, a jungle department of the Amazon region that registers its first death from covid-19.
