He added that if he is a resident alien, “verifications will be made, with expulsion sanctions“The health services will take care of Colombians in violation, who since Monday must also put themselves in self-isolation for 14 days from their arrival in the country, said Mr. Espinosa.
Six Spanish and French nationals already expelled
Like other countries, the government of President Ivan Duque has stepped up measures to stop the spread of Covid-19, as part of the health emergency declared on Thursday. One of these provisions prohibits the entry of all non-resident foreigners as of Monday in Colombia, which has 54 confirmed cases since March 6, the majority in Bogota, with no deaths to date.
Espinosa also said that six nationals “spanish and french“, who entered Colombia before this measure, were expelled for not respecting the self-isolation already imposed on travelers from China, Italy, Spain and France.
The government has also ordered the closure of bars and nightclubs, also from Monday, and has restricted meetings to a maximum of 50 people. It also suspended classes in public schools, and prohibited the disembarkation of cruise ships.
