Cologne-Rodenkirchen –
A boat ran aground on the night of Whit Monday in the Rodenkirchen district of Cologne on the Rhine. The people on the boat were rescued unharmed, said a fire department spokesman on Monday morning. When the water level was low, the boat got stuck at Rhine kilometer 681.
“We launched a small lifeboat onto which the two people could then translate,” the spokesman said. “In a two-and-a-half hour mission, we secured the boat with ropes, among other things.”
During the course of Monday, the boat is to be freed from the accident when it is bright. Why it ran aground is still unclear. (mab)
