Cologne: Rizin bomb farmer sentenced to long detention

For a planned terrorist attack with the highly toxic ricin a Cologne Islamist has been sentenced to eight years in prison. The Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court found the German converted to Islam guilty of having planned and prepared the bombing with a biological weapon in Germany with her husband.

Her husband had already been sentenced to ten years in prison by the court. The mother of seven had adopted the radical Islamic ideology of the terrorist organization Islamic State.

The federal prosecutor had applied for nine years in prison for the 44-year-old, and the defenders had been given a suspended sentence. She knew nothing of an attack plan and also did not prepare one. The woman was tried in court in early April contested – and only their planned departure to the terrorist organization “Islamic state“conceded.

The procured amount of castor bean seeds would have been enough for 13,500 dead. In fact, spreading the poison using a steel ball cluster bomb would have killed up to 200 people, experts say.
