Cologne: Men’s choir “Grüngürtelrosen” releases its first song “Kölle”.

Cologne –

“Kölle, you are the one for me” and “I’m addicted to you” – this is what the “Green Belt Roses” declaration of love sounds like to the city of Cologne. A year and a half after it was founded, the male choir has released its first song.

“Kölle” is a homage from the point of view of an “Immis” – as newcomers to Cologne are called. Scared off at first, he falls irrevocably in love with his new home. “Do bes not nice, avver do bes nice crazy, do bes minge Floch un do bes mi Jlöck”, says one of the lines of text.

The initiator is Cologne DJ Bleibtreuboy

The initiator of the song is choir member Sepp Mortan, known as DJ Bleibtreuboy and Bingolinchen frontman. “Like many of us years ago, Sepp moved to Cologne as Immi,” says choirmaster Constantin Gold, who is responsible for the arrangement and musical direction. “We also had to grow into Cologne first. Now we live here with passion and even sing in Kölsch. “

The composer and producer of the song is singer-songwriter Henning Neuser. The Sunday was recorded under corona-compliant conditions. 15 green belt roses came individually to the Nippeser Studio Songpark Nord. The other choir members sang their part at home and filmed themselves. Henning Neuser created the complete works from all audio recordings and Slava Esau cut the music video. In this, the members appear on retro television screens.

Choir rewrote the lyrics of the song by the Cologne band AnnenMayKantereit

The green belt roses caused a sensation with a Corona song back in April. The song “Tommi” by AnnenMayKantereit was rewritten as a piece about the corona quarantine. There have been over 250,000 views for the video on Instagram so far.

The green belt roses consist of 75, colorfully mixed men. Among them: bouncers, barbar shop operators, restaurateurs, brewery employees, lawyers, police officers, organizers and many other professional groups. None of them have had any vocal training, but they are still enthusiastic about the project. The choir has performed in front of a large audience: for example, at “Jeck im Sunnesching”, the “Gamescom City Festival” or “Loss mer Weihnachtsleeder” in the Rhein-Energie-Stadion. (gam)
