Cologne: Lured into the wrong date – suspects identified

After a robbery in Cologne, the police have identified two suspects. Officers had been searching for them since October 11 using surveillance footage from an ATM.

They are said to have attacked a 21-year-old man on Kendenicher Strasse in Cologne- Zollstock in July (July 21, 2024).

Suspects threatened 21-year-olds with firearms and stun guns

The young man had contacted a person named “Emily” via a messenger service and arranged to meet in Cologne. There he met the two suspects and another unknown person around 8 p.m. They are said to have threatened him with a gun and a stun gun and forced him to hand over his fanny pack containing cash and a debit card.

They then took him to the ground and fled. Due to the forced PIN code on his EC card, the perpetrators are said to have withdrawn cash from various ATMs.

As the police announced on Tuesday, October 15, tips from the public led to the identification of the two suspected robbers. The suspects are said to be a 23-year-old from Cologne and a 15-year-old teenager involved. The investigation is still ongoing. (red)
