The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) provisionally reported 15,145 new corona infections early on Saturday morning. That was 38 percent or 4,196 cases more than on Saturday morning a week ago. According to the RKI, the incidence rose from 95.1 yesterday to 100 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants within the last seven days.
Overall, according to the preliminary figures, the institute is currently assuming around 157,300 active corona cases with evidence, which is around 28,300 more than a week ago. In addition, the RKI now reported 86 deaths within 24 hours in connection with the virus. Within the last seven days there were 476 deaths, corresponding to an average of 68 deaths per day (previous day: 66).
This increased the number of deaths to 95,077 within 24 hours. So far, a total of 4.45 million people in Germany have tested positive for the corona virus. Since these are preliminary figures for today, these could be corrected later by the RKI.
Hospitalization incidence increases for the fifth day in a row
The nationwide hospitalization incidence for people infected with corona has risen for the fifth day in a row. On Saturday morning, the RKI initially reported 2.83 admissions per 100,000 inhabitants in the past 7 days (Friday originally: 2.68). These are the provisional figures, which are always subsequently corrected upwards, as some admissions are only reported later.

In the age group 0-4 years the hospitalization incidence is provisionally 1.11, in the age group 5-14 years 0.48, in the age group 15-34 years 1.47, in the age group 35-59 years 1, 89, in the age group 60-79 years with 4.06 and among the over-80-year-olds with 12.09 hospital admissions with Covid-19 per week and 100,000 inhabitants. The hospitalization incidence has officially been the main indicator for a tightening of the corona measures since the summer, but a uniform threshold has not been defined.
The situation in the intensive care units is mixed. The occupancy numbers are tending to rise, but on Friday the corresponding value stagnated in 1,541 patients compared to the previous day.
