Cologne –
In the event of a fire in an apartment building in Cologne’s old town, the fire brigade saved a total of five people on Wednesday afternoon. Two adults and two children were brought out of the six-story house by a turntable ladder, another person with an escape hood – a special respiratory mask, as the fire brigade mitteitle.
All people were taken to the hospital as a precaution. The cause of the fire was apparently a box in a hallway that caught fire and caused heavy smoke. The fire brigade and rescue service were in action with around 35 emergency services and 15 vehicles.
In the house concerned, there is not only several apartments but also an ice cream parlor owned by ex-FC professional Lukas Podolski, in which there was no fire. (red)
