Köln – Major alarm at the main station!
The police closed off Breslauer Platz in Cologne (North Rhine-Westphalia) on Friday afternoon. The reason: a “suspicious object” was found on a police car.
The object was discovered at around 4:45 p.m. Minutes later, the square was cordoned off. The Cologne Federal Police station is located on Breslauer Platz.

On Platform X, the police reported that there was a major operation around the square, directly behind Cologne Central Station. There were many emergency services on site. People should avoid the area as much as possible.
Tracks 10 and 11 were also closed. “As a result, there are now delays and partial cancellations. There may be short-term changes to the train route,” the railway announced. The connections on lines RB25, S6, S11, S12 and S19 are affected.
“We are clarifying the situation,” said a police spokeswoman.
It later emerged that someone had put a bag of clothes on the police car. The closure was lifted.
